I just finished reading Candace Cameron-Bure’s book, “Reshaping It All: Motivation For Physical and Spiritual Fitness”. I have read many health related books, but this one helped me gain a new perspective on diet and exercise! Most people know what they need to do to lose weight and get healthy. What is typically lacking is action and the belief that you can gain control over your eating habits.
You can gain control! This week I challenge you to remove the hold that food has on you. Eating that candy bar will not make you feel less stressed, and ice cream will not fix a broken heart. If anything, eating the wrong types of food will add stress to your life. How can we create change in our actions?
The most interesting aspect of “Reshaping It All” was how Candace turned to her faith to help her overcome her addiction to food. We don’t need to feel like we’re alone in our struggles to overcome food addiction and unhealthy lifestyle choices. Have a support system in place to help you become successful. Lean on family, friends and God during the tough times. Ask for help when temptation comes. Your cravings will eventually subside, but your health, confidence and faith will improve as you gain control over what you consume. Take action today, believe in yourself, and use your support system and God to help you move closer to your goals.
